Yeah, well, what percentage of the Hyatt membership knows this rule? I didn’t until I came across this thread, and I would bet I am not alone in this. And there are probably people who have booked these types of reservations without being aware that it is against some obscure. Maybe their plans changed and they needed another night. Or maybe the cert hadn’t posted yet when they made the original points booking.
(note that I am not arguing that the club benefit should apply to the free night cert booking. The property should be free to enforce for limitation for that night. But what’s the reason for the restriction on those certs anyway? If I had to guess, it’s some technical limitation of Hyatt’s IT system that can’t handle more than one type of award for a give night)
The reason is likely that the hotel merges the stays into one as is their policy (and Hyatt considers back to back stays as one stay), in doing so you would gain access in the FNA day as well. This is the same for SUA stays.
I’m not here to argue about why, I simply came to provide you an Avenue to attempt to circumvent Hyatt’s policy. Whether you choose to do so is up to you.
