I know you can’t apply Club Acess award to a free night award.

My reservation is a mix of award nights and nights on points and my request was to apply it to the points nights. Hyatt reservation says they can’t apply the Club Access to the points nights either because they are back to back (the award nights were booked separately). Can someone confirm this is the actual rule and not a misinterpretation? Award nights are expiring soon so I can’t swap out those nights to make it an all-points stay.
