Yeah not sure what my options were... could I have refused? It wasn't the pax, it was the gate agent coming back and giving me a new boarding pass.
I was also exhausted and not in the mood to argue so just left it. I emailed afterwards and received some long winded reply essentially stating what the gate agents did being okay.
