Need some advice on the UA status match. I am currently a longtime EXP on American and have had UA silver via Marriott. Lost the silver this year as I switched stays to other places and am debating trying to get it back. My primary airline is AA, but having UA status has been useful on short hops like IAH-MSY etc. and using points.

I was looking at the status challenge. As I understand it, it expires Dec 31, but counts retroactively for flights from Sep 3 onwards. From Sep to now, I have 3 PQF and 311 PQP. I have a one way that I am planning to book for the holidays that is going for $1000 net of taxes. If I am doing math right, this should put me at 4 segments and 1300+ PQP, thereby giving me silver for 2025.

Upside is 2025 Silver, downside is I'll be Platinum for 2 weeks basically. No one knows what the challenge will be like next year, and I doubt that I'll end up in a hitting the challenge marks for Platinum even with 120 days.

What would you do? Am I missing something?

My SO would make it easily, but she doesn't have any status, so no match for her sadly.
