Flew mostly Alaska transcons in the last few years between JFK and West Coast, and I was surprised how small the meal portions are on the 5-6hr flights. The nut portions are rather small, and there are no appetizers, just a few leafs as a salad to accompany the main, with one bread roll plated on tray.
Before the pandemic, AS offered both soup and salad on transcon dinners and they had a small smoothie shot “appetizer” on the breakfast flights. It wasn’t much more food, but a little more than they are serving currently, plus the nuts were in a real ramekin and weren’t mixed with pretzels.
