will the ‘trek’ be solved if we arrange meet/ greet service at airport?
That will be tough. They will likely only speak Portuguese, and you'll have to find them somehow. It can be overwhelming. Many people as you exit will be offering a taxi, saying they are Uber, or saying there is no Uber at GIG. Ignore them all. My understanding is that you can stay in the terminal as long as possible and then exit and "trek" to the Uber pickup spot, confirm the license plate etc. I don't think it's too far, but I don't fully know your situation.
Admittedly I'm mobile, but I'd still say use Uber and follow the directions in App and you can speak with the driver (auto translates) - this is the best method. Once in the Uber, you'll be fine just be wary, keep the windows up and doors locked, phone away, etc. Not trying to be alarmist; just for your protection - Rio is one of my favorite cities with lovely people and once you get to your hotel and soak in the vibes, you'll have a great time, I'm sure.
Use Uber EVERYWHERE in Rio for your situation - it's cheap, reliable, and usually pretty comfortable. With the app, it's easy. Good luck!
