We regularly stayed at LaQuinta, our preferred brand, which offered a good compromise between quality and reasonable rates. Our experience was mostly within Texas, at Longview, Houston, San Antonio, and a lot at Austin every summer. After Wyndham took over, we felt that property maintenance went down at all locations that we used, prices went up relative to other similar properties, and it became a generally less satisfactory.experience. The fact that Wyndham points expire after 4 years, even when holding a Wyndham card and even when reward account activity is present also factored into our decision, and that's without bringing up the "joy" of dealing with Barclay, the issuer of the Wyndham loyalty credit cards. All in all, many negatives after Wyndham took over, and not enough (or any) positives to make us want to remain with LaQuinta.
