Why does that amaze you? An extra legroom seat with an empty middle is the only way I would ever buy a ticket on F9. (That or the true first class that they will introduce next year though, as I noted upthread, it's possible that blocked middle seat could actually offer more personal space)
BTW, can't you just buy an extra middle seat for yourself at regular prices? Also to my amazement, they've brought back $19 fares on 1000 mile flights. Couldn't I just pay an extra $19 for the middle seat to be free?
