The Kobe Bay Sheraton is assuredly “long in the tooth,” but for Elites, it seems like a good way to experience an onsen, pretty good breakfast, and a night’s sleep for 17K JPY. Here are my impressions and photos:
Pros:
- Upgraded from Preferred Double to Preferred Premier King on club floor - this room would qualify as a junior suite at some properties
- Bed is comfortable - very plush covers, plush pillows, medium mattress (slightly bouncy, but comfortable IMO)
- Shower pressure is good
- Room is old and worn, but clean
- Service was friendly
- Asked about late checkout proactively - no issue with 2 PM
- Breakfast (only served in restaurant, given coupon proactively) was tasty - nice omelet, hashbrowns, French toast, and strawberry ice cream
- This was my first time trying an onsen (or being naked around strangers) - it was definitely an interesting experience - the outdoor pool is quite relaxing as the indoor ones were quite hot - nice free amenity for club and Elite guests
- Club had guava juice
- Scenic elevators
- Welcome gift of chocolates
Cons:
- Shower temperature control is a bit difficult and the nozzle had a few stray sprays at odd angles
- The AC in the room was not satisfactory - quite warm - fan was provided proactively - not overly hot at night thanks to fan
I would come back if I wanted to return to the onsen.
