The Kobe Bay Sheraton is assuredly “long in the tooth,” but for Elites, it seems like a good way to experience an onsen, pretty good breakfast, and a night’s sleep for 17K JPY. Here are my impressions and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded from Preferred Double to Preferred Premier King on club floor - this room would qualify as a junior suite at some properties
  • Bed is comfortable - very plush covers, plush pillows, medium mattress (slightly bouncy, but comfortable IMO)
  • Shower pressure is good
  • Room is old and worn, but clean
  • Service was friendly
  • Asked about late checkout proactively - no issue with 2 PM
  • Breakfast (only served in restaurant, given coupon proactively) was tasty - nice omelet, hashbrowns, French toast, and strawberry ice cream
  • This was my first time trying an onsen (or being naked around strangers) - it was definitely an interesting experience - the outdoor pool is quite relaxing as the indoor ones were quite hot - nice free amenity for club and Elite guests
  • Club had guava juice
  • Scenic elevators
  • Welcome gift of chocolates

Cons:
  • Shower temperature control is a bit difficult and the nozzle had a few stray sprays at odd angles
  • The AC in the room was not satisfactory - quite warm - fan was provided proactively - not overly hot at night thanks to fan

I would come back if I wanted to return to the onsen.
