It is such a poor redemption value that it would only make sense if you didn't redeem AA miles for travel. It is very easy to get at least 2 cents per mile (and I often get 3), even on short notice domestics, unlike with DL/UA. I just redeemed 12.5k in lieu of a $350+ one-way BOS-DFW the other day (for a family member) when the necessary flight was down to J1Y3. I can't imagine spending 75k for a $595 value.
