The entire trip would be at least 18 hrs door to door for me. That includes a short flight to SEA, 3 1/2 hrs in SEA, and then the HA/AS flight to Tokyo, in addition to transportation to and from the airports. So I am not sure that the difference in distance between NRT and HND would be a huge factor for me in choosing my route. Then again, I “grew up” with NRT being the only airport for Tokyo for US flights… (and I also walked through a blizzard to school every day, up hill, both ways).

For me, I always have to add the 5-8 minutes that it takes me to find the right exit out of a Tokyo subway station. As a kid growing up in the Bay Area, no blizzards but the hill both ways was our shortcut on an otherwise 2 mile walk to school.😀
