feedback on Admiral Club membership strategy
I am thinking of getting an Admiral Club membership.
There are 2 main options:
1. Get a membership via miles (around 75k miles as EXP). or
2. Get the Citi AA Executive master card.
I'm debating between:
1. Signing up for the Barclays Aviator mastercard, currently with 70k SUB, and apply the SUB towards AC membership, with a total cost of $99 annual fee, and 5k additional AA miles out of pocket.
or
2: Sign up for the Citi AA Exec MC for $595 annual fee.
Question 1: I have received a SUB for the Citi AA Platinum mc within the last 12 month. Am I able to still get the SUB for the Citi A Exec MC, or do I have to wait 48 months from the SUB from the Citi AA Plat mc to pass? Are the Citibank SUB card specific for each AA card separately, or do they apply to all AA cards in terms of the last SUB received? I have never had a Citi AA Exec MC before.
Question 2: If I wait in the future to apply for the Citi Exec mc, and say I have 180k LP for that status year when I apply, will the Citi Exec MC card add another 20k in loyalty points to boost the LP total (10k LP after 50k points earned, 10k LP after 90k points earned per qualifying year)? So the total LP will be 200k after the boost in this case, even though the card was obtained when I already surpassed 50k / 90k point levels?
Thoughts on which way to go? Or if I am even eligible for the Citi AA Executive mc SUB since I got a Citi AA Platinum mc within the last 12 months?
