My only knowledge of Japanese whisky is a dodgy evening at the Four Seasons Marunouchi shortly before the pandemic where I was indulged by some generous Chinese and Russian hotel guests, and a very understanding barman. I had no idea what I was doing, but I believe what I was being fed was not cheap.
On the published drinks list I see:
Suntory Whisky Hibiki
Ichiro's Malt CHICHIBU JAL Exclusive
So what am I looking for here? Hibiki, for example, covers a multitude of sins.
There is another thread (maybe 2) on the whiskies.
My onboard menu 2 weeks ago stated "Suntory Whisky Hibiki 100th anniversary" - even though the website menu just said "Hibki." It's the one you can buy (for what appears to be great value).
I tried both, for me the Chichibu was slightly more interesting (?exciting) on the palate but both were very drinkable.
