And, like I was saying, AS is going to need pax going PDX-SEA-TYO to make SEA-TYO work just like DL does, because the SEA market has four carriers right now. PDX is probably the most significant market for pax connecting to SEA for any TPAC destination, given that YVR has a lot more nonstop action thanks to AC (plus coming into the US for transit is a pain in the tuchus).

I get PDX is nicer that SEA for connecting but that doesn't mean they'll kneecap their own feed into SEA for that reason. Especially since they're going to be behind the eight ball generating revenue on the plane for a good while.
