The only clarification required is that Velocity Premium members are afforded the same benefits as UA flyers. We are a preferred Airline and as such do not form part of Star Alliance. There VA Platinum receive same benefits as UA Platinum and so down the list.
Unfortunately it isn't quite that simple. There are UA Plat benefits that are not extended to VA Plat (upgrades, and Economy Plus seating access are examples).
