It’s confusing now because the published rules for accessing D1 Check-in are different than the rules for accessing the lounge. The above itinerary doesn’t qualify for D1 lounge access.
However, reviewing the check-in rules below, I also do not believe it qualifies for accessing the check-in facility. (Also observing that these rules are not completely accurate because it omits D1 to BOS and DCA, which do have access.)
- A nonstop Delta One® ticket to New York-JFK;
- A nonstop Delta One ticket on a long-haul transoceanic flight that is 6.5 or more hours;
- A domestic Delta ticket in any class connecting to a same-day Delta One ticket on a long-haul transoceanic Delta flight that is 6.5 or more hours;
- A nonstop transoceanic ticket in First/Business Class on a SkyTeam ®-operated flight;
- A domestic ticket in any class connecting to same-day First/Business Class ticket on an transoceanic SkyTeam-operated flight; or all Delta 360 members departing from LAX in any class of service, on any fare traveling to any destination
- Customers in Delta's VIP Select®may also access Delta One at LAX, regardless of cabin.

This is now more confusing than AS w FFD, FL and FFCI…. And I don’t think it could get more confusing than that.
Bullet point 4 wouldn’t that qualify me on AM MEX to NRT as it doesn’t say the flight must be from LAX. However if I can’t use the D1 lounge that kills the best part. Would I even be allowed into the SC since DL to Mex in F I thought doesn’t get you in. The long haul on AM would allow SC?
Very confused 🤔

Not locked but just closed. I didn’t realize there were some ppl who can use the check in but not the lounge. The last time I was there no one was calling up and no one checked my BP so I assumed all check in folks were lounge eligible.
