LAN joined oneworld very early on, in 2000. LAN and TAM merged in 2012, so TAM's joining in 2014 is simply in response to that. LATAM then signed a joint-venture with DL and DL got some shares in LATAM, so LAN had to leave in 2020. This is it. QR also has some shares in LATAM, so I do not think it will join SkyTeam. LATAM also maintains close collaboration with many other oneworld carriers.
