What about transfers over days where the connecting flight doesn't operate ?
In a fit of enthusiasm, since tempered, i booked a Santiago (SCL) trip from London with TK. OK, I admit a fare well below £2,000 was a driver, and i accepted the inconvenience of a 20-hour connection. That connection was the shortest possible for a Tuesday departure so i was happy that I'd get a hotel and a decent sleep between flights.
It recently dawned on me that the long connections from any of LHR's Tuesday flights to IST is because the Santiago flight doesn't operate at all on Tuesday. Mine may well be the shortest Tuesday connection, but t'm now concerned TK's logic is I should have booked a Wednesday flight from London - getting them off the hook of supplying accommodation. I can see the rationality of that approach, though the price for the convenience of the Wednesday departure was boosted dramatically upwards.
At the end of the day getting my own Istanbul bed for the night isn't going to break the bank, but I'd rather not have to arrange that last minute after being turned away by the hotel desk. Is there any experience out there of TK's approach to this situation?
