There's no reason why crew sched couldn't/shouldn't have known about the extended travel time for the crew...it was snowing all afternoon...just sloppy operational practice IMHO.
And they knew at 18:20 that they didn't have a crew as I checked with the lounge dragon before dragging myself all the way to gate 28...she called the gate as it didn't show as boarding and they told her, yup, no crew...so the delay should have been posted a lot earlier than it was...again...just sloppy IMHO.
AC can do a lot better, they just choose not to.
The arrival time will always be when the brakes are set.
Not when the cabin door opens, not when the first J passenger gets off, not when the last Y pax gets off.
Regardless of reason ,I've never heard of crew sched at any airline allowing for extra travel time to an airport.
To many silos at a big company to get a crew at an out station on the earlier shuttle bus.
Certainly AC should have posted the delay earlier. Many of us know when an AC flight will be delayed before AC does.
