I mean there was snow, but they/AC didn't take the resulting extra transit time into account so that they could make it to the airport on time?
AC also didn't post a delay until 5:45 pm for the scheduled 6pm departure, which also makes no sense.
Had to de-ice which took quite a while to start once we got the pad despite there not being a line-up and a bunch of idle trucks around.
Lastly, once we finally got to YVR they announced there was a 'medical emergency' on-board and to remain seated while the paramedics came on to deal with the sick PAX. Of course a number of entitled cretins in J didn't think that applied to them and got up as if they were somehow going to be able to de-plane prior to the issue being resolved...they were not and some looked rather displeased as a result.
Ended up off the plane in YVR 90 mins late...long enough to be totally annoying as this was now 12:30 AM EST,....
The pick up time from the hotel, is the pick up time from the hotel.
If crew is on the hotel shuttle, those often leave at fixed times.
Yes crew sched could have sent the crew on an earlier bus.......if crew sched recognized the issue, and could find the entire crew.
Ops won't know the flight is going to be late until the crew shows up at the airport. If that happens to be at 17:45.........
According to Flightaware date,
https://www.flightaware.com/live/fli...310Z/CYOW/CYVR,
the flight went 14 minutes over block.
Not bad considering deicing and seasonal winds.
Not justifying what happened. Just an armchair explanation.
Your consolation prize, tonight's flight was cancelled.
