Really unfortunate that the seat didn't workout after all. It's SOOOO comfortable in the bed mode and I LOVE the pre-programmed zero G position. Much more comfortable than the Super Diamond seats that are taking over. Not going to lie, i even find the seat more comfortable in bed mode compared to other top business/first class seats out there that need a mattress topper to be somewhat comfy. This zodiac seat doesn't need any of that!
And yeah, regarding seat 5A, you have just one window and it's pretty far away. Thanks to the huge 787 windows, you can still see out but you're a good distance away from it. I'm scheduled to fly on this product again with my friend. We'll be seated on paired seats (3/4A). We'll see how the motion is then!
I thought I was the only one that kind of likes the Concept D seats. I agree that this is one of the most comfortable seats in lie-flat position - I love the padding and infinitely large footwell. I don't feel claustrophobic in the seat and have had some very restful nights across the Atlantic. It does have it's downsides though: the rocking issue on adjoining seats is not good for light sleepers, the line of sight to other passengers is annoying, monitors have to be in locked position during takeoff/landing, and I think it's overall a fairly ugly seat/cabin compared to enclosed suites or reverse herringbone layout.
But for me, it all comes down to sleeping comfort when flying eastbound and this seat delivers. Of the business class cabins I've flown, I'd place this one at or near the top for sleeping comfort. By this measure alone, I'd probably go Zodiac Cirrus>Zodiac Concept D>Apex Suite>Qsuite>Super Diamond.
