This would make sense. I visited for a day last year, and while I was really impressed with how great everything still looked, Offerendum had posted some really concerning photos from his stay. Looks like the interiors of the rooms had gotten just too worse for the wear. They've been talking for some time about blowing out the spa, too, which seemed to be among the property's weakest links when I was there.

It's an older resort - for Marrakech, in any case - but an undeniably charming/magical one. Let's hope a major refurb is the cause of that downtime.
