I know that when I look at either gifting or applying a GOH (or CAA), the system lets me pick the specific item that I want to use. i guess if one accidentally chose a later-expiring instrument, that's the one that would get attached.

SP03 ’s case they called or emailed Hyatt and the agent selected the later expiring one by mistake to apply.
