It is unusual for BA to plan such a substitution so far out - usually a tactical response. Clearly, there must be a big chunk of LGW 777s due maintenance. The original rationale behind JFK cancellation was to allow Gatwick to resource its LH operations without bringing aircraft from LHR. Suggests at least two LGW aircraft will be away simultaneously….
Possibly related and I already posted in a separate thread - TPA had a few dates removed in summer so it’s now 6x/week some weeks. Just seemed like something that would be more fleet related than schedule optimization to remove a few random Wednesdays from the overall schedule.
