It alternates between times of intense usage, like you are seeing with your aircraft now, and then relatively long periods of inactivity due to maintenance where they try to hit up all they can to prep it for another long period of time of intense usage with (hopfully) no maintenance issues. Time in the air over a significant period of time wouldn't really show that in any meaningful way. (Of course it may still be useful for some purposes to know how the total time like that is compared to other airlines.)
