If it was two tickets on the same foreign airline with a less than 24 hour transit I can see the airline rejecting for fear of maybe violating cabotage. In your case, on two different airlines there shouldn't be an issue of rejection. Both airlines are following all rules and restrictions, so no problem with rejection for cabotage. The only reason they would reject you is for not meeting the conditions of admittance to ICN and the US - make sure you meet them and can prove it. You do have to make sure you have enough time to process through immigration and customs, re-check your checked bags, and clear security in time to catch your next flight.

Ofcourse, I am doing my due diligence and triple checking with a local travel agency and attempting to call the airlines or someone in Korea to find out more. Hoping to reconcile all the information.
