I have used it on 2 occasions in the last 6 months. I have travelled the day before but within 24 hours. To be honest, you have to be very specific when you ring the Concierge desk to amend. You must stress that you want to use the “travel earlier than planned” perk rather than the “guaranteed seat on a flight” perk. Otherwise they might try to charge you.

Another thing is that when you ring them, they might just change your flight. The first time I tried to use it they told me to go to airport and go standby. When I tried this the staff at FRA airport had no clue and were adamant I couldn’t go standby. I phoned Concierge and the staff member asked me to hand my phone to the FRA staff member so she could explain what needed to be done. The FRA staff member told the Conc line person that the IT system in FRA couldn’t cope with a revenue person on standby and unless my name was on the system I wasn’t going anywhere. At this point, the Concierge staff member just booked me on the flight.

The second time I used the perk, they just changed my flight to travel the previous day at no charge. A friend who is also a Conc member did the same recently. You do definitely get the impression that the Conc line people are not quite sure how to handle this type of request.
