I take trains as much as possible through Europe. They’re far more comfortable overall due to not having to arrive hours early, check bags, queue for security and boarding, and the stations are much closer to town. I do most everything I can to avoid two hours of waiting for anything less than a four-hour flight. A side bonus is often the scenery.
For me as well. I have even traveled from Amsterdam to Sicilia (30 hours !) which was more comfortable than a two hour flight despite the long duration.
And when traveling (yes by air) to another continent (e.g. Australia) and want to travel locally I prefer trains when possible. A few years ago I took Greyhound bus from SYD to BNE, a comfortable 14 hour overnight ride and rented a car there. Rather than flying or driving all the way.
