Doubletree Queenstown
Did a search and this property does not have a thread and the NZ hotel thread says little and is old.
Stayed 2 nights, booked a basic King bed room and was upgraded to deluxe king with lake view - a limited view from a smallish window. The limited view did not matter to us as we were not going there to sit around during the day - went on a Milford Sound tour and after checkout visited Arrowtown before our afternoon flight. I was contacted by the hotel with information and a request for estimated arrival time a week prior. The app showed the room upgrade the night before.
At checkin the usual 2 bottles of water plus cookies, was also given an entry key to the pool and sauna at the Hilton next door (otherwise a $20 charge). I asked about the 25% Diamond dining discount and was told there is not any. I also asked about free drink vouchers and was told these are usually not given but was given 2. In our room was a nice chocolate bar and a 375 ml bottle of Pinot Noir (which is probably why they don’t usually give drink vouchers).
Room was decent size, separate bedroom and small living room with small kitchen at entry to room. Tiny balcony which is useless, just enough room for 1 person to stand, no room for a chair. AC worked well. Small bathroom, shower had good pressure and no water temperature variations. Very good lighting in all rooms.
On-site Breakfast - was surprised that there was no $10 charge for the hot buffet items, which the other Hilton and Doubletrees were charging in NZ.
Lunch or Dinner - nothing in the DT, but you can dine at the 2 places in the Hilton next door and charge to your room. We ate twice at Stacks bar across from the DT, the food there was very good and prices not bad. Drink vouchers were good for any of the beer or wine on the menu, not sure about liquor/cocktail selection.
Underground parking is $16/day, though you can get 3 hours free. A case of contracting out parking so you pay separately and cannot charge to your room.
I would stay here again, the price is a lot less than the Hilton next door.
