i can’t see charging for J seat selection though, given that one pod is pretty much as good as any other.
BA currently charges for seats in J on most fares, unless one has statuts.
For those travelling alone who don't have a preference, that is fine. Couples travelling together usually want to be seated near each other. Or families. J is a lot more leisure now.
Someone searches for J in Google Flights. Finds a good price on BA. Clicks through the purchase, gets to seat selection and sees a charge for
£100 a seat. How often will they think...wait...wasn't airline 'X' £100 cheaper? Does that airline offer seat selection with J? Highly unlikely. 99% of travellers aren't savvy on that front. Pay for economy seats...pay for any seat. Especially in this time of premium leisure travel.
