Expectations Vs Reality : Our Two Night Stay in December 2024

Have read some negative reviews here but decided to learn on my own experience, try it myself and here is the summary of our stay at St. Regis Langkawi

Pros :

1. Rooms and hotel itself look modern and are well-kept. ( don’t really know if it’s a pro, as they must look modern and well-kept )

2. The water pressure was strong , the hot water is genuinely hot , not lukewarm and you don’t have to wait for 20 minutes for it to become actually hot

3. Kayuputi restaurant team was extremely polite, attentive and kind.
When they noticed I didn’t finish my dry duck (intentionally dry, but overly so &#129396 , the chef personally came to us to discuss what we didn’t like about it. Our feedback was handled with professionalism.

Cons : ( I’m getting mad even writing this 😁 )

1. Inattentive beach and pool service
While staff occasionally refills your water with lemon, most of the time you have to get up and approach them yourselves ( or wait 100500 minutes until they notice you)

2. Cocktail Vouchers System
The hotel gives out vouchers for cocktails that you must show physically at the bar , which looks like a meal - exchange program.

3. Paid Paddle Boards
Paddle Boards weren’t complimentary, like in many hotels in this price range, they cost 100 RM for an hour.

4. A birthday that was forgotten.

My husband had a birthday and nobody ever wished him a happy birthday / brought us a dessert / small gift or anything, even thought we had a butler who , I guess, didn’t even know about it ( or pretended he didn’t 😁 )

5. Buttler’s service was nothing close to what we expected.
The guy was replying promptly on WhatsApp, brought us coffee few times and that was it.
No questions, no effort to make our stay special , no extra mile. By the end of the day I completely forgot about his existence 🥴

6. Check out
Nobody bothered to ask us, how our stay had been or if we had liked it at all.
Our luggage was put outside, we had to carry it to the taxi ourselves .
Despite 5 - 6 staff members standing at the reception , nobody even looked at us until i sarcastically waved at them saying “good bye!” they waved back and said “ good bye” ( nobody got my sarcasm anyway &#128516

The worst part is hotel management’s reply to our post-stay complaint , explaining them providing the best standards , trying to become better in future and all these things nobody reads. We didn’t get any apology at all.

Would rate this experience as 5.6-6 /10
