So I called the gift card service number and they confirmed that on their end it showed $0 balance. The representative told me to call Delta directly at 800-221-1212 so they can see the history and give me a refund. So I called Delta but the delta representative stated she did in fact see the remaining balance still available. It’s just that once you use partial amount, a new gift card number is created. So she gave me the new gc#. I guess every time you use an e-gift card, if there is still a remaining balance then call Delta to give you the new gc# to use the remaining balance.
Yep, it's frustating when only partially using a card. The new e-Cert number for the remaining balance can actually be found in your flight purchase email receipt and online in your flight purchase receipt under the My Receipts page -- https://www.delta.com/mydelta/walletMyReceiptSummary. So you don't actually need to call to get it.
