One of the few areas where USA airlines reign supreme is for seat assignment fees. In Europe,even charging for a seat in J has become common place, and some airlines will charge for any seat at all, including middle seats in the back. The situation is Asia is just as bad. At least OW gives people with status access to seats for free (including lowly Ruby); unfortunately, no such policy exists for *A.
