My drop off experience in US is specifically in an International Terminal. So it is not for domestic flights. The staff at baggage drop off still checks my passport but it was quick and I have already uploaded my passport info during online check-in.

The UA kiosk in HKG is a complete waste of time. I could have saved several minutes by getting in line earlier.
