A couple of thoughts on 2024.
It was a very unusual year for the huge number of status matches offered by different airlines (free/paid/challenge), hotels, etc (just check the
Programs that match Finnair status thread) I got LH SEN (challenge done) + TK*G (challenge done) + 2xSK Gold (challenge pending + no challenge), BT VIP, Strawberry Gold, Radisson VIP, Avis President's Circle, Dufry (ha!) whatnot.
I cleared one of the hurdles to Marriot LT Plat (10 years Plat) the other one (600 nights) should be done in 2025. I know that many (especially in N-America) diss Bonvoy, but it's been good for me.
The LH SEN challenge involved the only IRROP. I was caught in a storm system in MUC late evening, with lots of inbound and outbound flights delayed or cancelled. My MUC-VIE was overbooked and also got also delayed and delayed, so my connection in VIE to BUD was impossible. Luckily there was still a MUC-BUD flight a couple of hours later - I volunteered to IVDB, got my 250€ and was in BUD 30 minutes within the original arrival, so all good. I had to retro claim the original flight credits, though to make sure the segments count towards the challenge.
On the redemption side I made good use of the BA<->AY Avios transfers and used AY Avios to book on the BA site LHR-YUL and BDA-LHR (considerably cheaper than to book on the AY site) Further good use of Avios (though some here were of different opinion) was to upgrade said LHR-YUL redemption to PE with Avios at the F wing at LHR. Luckily the ladies in the F wing have no clue about BAEC rules
My work trips this year being exclusively in Europe, the C/Y ratio was dismal, only 9,5% flown in C (TK upgrades to/from GYD + BT to RIX + some HEL-LHR on the A350) and 8,5% in PE, the rest in cattle class.
The obligatory statistics:
Airports 27 - new BDA, GDN, LJU, YUL, YYZ, WRO
Carriers 12 - new AC, BT
Countries 15 - new Bermuda (yes, I know...)
Segments 50
Total flown 61,594 km
Easternmost - GYD, Southernmost - BDA, Westernmost - YYZ, Northernmost - HEL
PS - I also had train trip (Ottawa-Toronto) in business class that was much better than any EUR C-class flights, with free food and booze + the engine horn sounded every few minutes
