RCC was once a very good value in my opinion, however they simply do not compare with the competition. Try SQ, TG, OS, LH, OZ or andy other *A lounge and you'll see what I mean. Drinks, food, service, internet access, furniture comfort; all of these are FAR superior in the competitors lounges. The only one where I have found decent amenities is at HKG, otherwise forget it.
On top of this, domestic RCCs are nearly always overcrowded. I find it far simpler to simply show up closer to my departure time and bide my time in the departure area for a few minutes rather than getting to the airport absurdly early and going to the lounge. It is usually fairly simple to find an outlet to charge the PC and if I need to hook up to send a few emails, their is invariably a phone available somewhere in the terminal that I can use for short hook ups.
Ten years ago the RCC was a great value and provided the solitude and quiet that one paid for, today I find that most RCCs are little different from the terminals. As a 1k I do use them on international trips where I am less willing to take the risk of showing up late for a flight!!
Anyway, there's my two cents worth.
