It's in a way sad that everyone sinks to the bottom with these changes. It doesn't impact me as I almost never buy basic and can still check a bag as a status member and even bring the 2 pcs of carryon. I wish travel were more civilized. Also never buy Basic fares and my saying goes "Friends don't let Friends Buy Basic". But I'm not sure I read your analysis the same way. Status members who buy BASIC can still check bags with status but I believe a Super Elite on Basic doesn't get a roller under this new scenario. The "status still applies" seems to only be associated with checked bags and elite status is silent on "Carry On" items.
Will be curious to see how thats enforced if the board through Zone 1/2
