While I enjoyed F9's current "Business Bundle" or whatever they call their extra legroom seats with a blocked middle for what it was, your comments about AA/UA F service are slightly off. AA and UA have similar windows for hot meals in domestic F: flights of, I believe, 900+ miles. (I can vouch for flights as short as DEN-SMF being full meal flights on UA)
I will continue to buy F9 blocked middle seat or true first class if it's a better deal than AA/DL/UA F but that's not because I really care about getting a full meal on the ~1000 mile flights where I'm likely to consider F9.
Ultimately though, I'm not sure how I feel about this change by F9. A guaranteed empty middle seat in an extra-legroom row is possibly better than wider 2-2 F seats.
