Keep in mind that this ticket linking is totally artificial and won't change anything to what can happen.

You are correct, I forgot about this potential issue. OP may have a good case showing that he/she has a departing flight in "connection" with the JFK-CDG one. But can be a real issue potentially and a reason to be denied boarding the 1st flight.
