Sorry I am a local and haven't had the opportunity to stay at either of these hotels. I just know the locality and only been to the rooftop bar at SO.
BTW, in my post the reference to "K road" is short for Karangahape road on google maps. It can be quite an interesting street - so many unique shops to browse through during the day, but at night it turns into one big party street and not-so-pretty scenes.
