I am more interested in how the biz class ones work, but I suppose the logic is similar to economy (thus this thread)? Or are there differences bw biz and economy too?
I recall a thread some months back, with an answer from brunos, and it highlighted to me how I don't think I actually understand how CX differentiates.
My educated guess is that, they are simply independent. I have frequently encountered the case where I always end up in fare class Q no matter I choose Light, Standard, or Flex.
The attached figure might be helpful. I apologize for only having the Chinese version, but I can provide some context. The words below “21”, “31”, and “41” represent “Light”, “Standard”, and “Flex”, respectively. Based on this, I believe there are Q-Light, Q-Standard, and Q-Flex tickets available.
Finally, if you haven't realized, the numbers in the table correspond to the number of Status Points you could earn in each case.
Note added: I am quite sure about this now. I have checked some of my past receipts, the fare basis looks like "
VR41WCAR", where the number 41 means it is a Flex ticket. It will be replaced by "31" if you purchase a standard ticket.
