Davos clearly isn’t the most beautiful place in the Swiss alps. But a popular one. Nevertheless, I like ging there and staying at the HGI Davos.
Thanks for responding. The reasons we are leaning towards going to Davos even though there may be more beautiful ski resorts out there, are as follows:
1. In the summer our guide on a white water rafting trip told us that she's a ski instructor in the winter and of all the places she personally did skiing at, she loved Davos most. So that's why we even looked into it and it turns out that Davos/Klosters is well recommended for beginners which we are.
2. Ease of access from ZRH via SBB transportation is very important to us and Davos fits the bill for that (as does Arosa and Flims/Laax from the following stop at Chur but I think beginner skiing is better in Davos from what I've read).
3. Specifically the Hilton Garden Inn has rooms that are more American style than the majority of hotels I have looked at and researched in varios Swiss ski resorts. The rooms look to be more spacious than average and the 2 x twin rooms are exactly that and not 2 single slivers of a bed pushed up against each other. I travel with my teens who are very particular and are usually loathe to sleep in queen or king beds where they need to double up. They do it if there's no other choice, but the rooms here that have the 2 proper beds seem to be exactly what they like best (same as the Hyatt Place near ZRH where they were thrilled to finally each have their own bed on the last night following our summer trip to another part of the Alps

).
4. Building on #3, the rates here at the HGI are quite reasonable compared to similar hotels and earning points as a Diamond doesn't hurt any either.
So it looks like this could be a very good option for us. Thanks again.
