I'm not sure you'll find many people here taking advantage of that feature. I checked it out, and it's just another way of selling you Aeroplan points. At 5x, which is the highest boost it offered me (higher boost = bigger discount), I was buying about 57K points for about 2.1 cents per point. Aeroplan regularly conducts sales of points for that price or cheaper. So it's not great value.
As for whether transfers of Amex MR would count, who knows. One would think that kind of thing would normally be excluded, but the T&C say nothing about how points were earned or what's eligible. And based on the number of points they're saying I've earned in the past few months, I have no idea what the basis is, because the number of points they say I've earned bears no relation to what I've actually earned or any coherent subset thereof.
You could try it out and let us know - check how many points you're eligible to boost, then transfer over 1K MR and see whether that changes the number.
