1 night Chase 40K night (40K + points) & 4 night award night (4th night free). Booked premium room, received premium room high floor. The hotel is floors 20+ so not clear a higher floor is an upgrade. The room is on the 27th floor. Currently watching the sun rise with the city and the mountains in the backgrouind. Not a fan of hotels in high rise buildings and the current hotel isn't the exception. The location is ideal from the perspective of connectivity. The hotel is a very comfortable hotel. The AC is quiet and the room is very dark and quiet. The view is a good view and the windows are large and clean so enjoying the view isn't an issue. The bed is very comfortable with pillows enough. The minibar area is impressive but unfunctional as the room doesn't have a table with the exception of the desk. The desk is unmovable and attached to a file cabinet encased in what appear to be a rock. I am pleased the room has a desk an work chair, but the chair doesn't go up / down as it is broken. Ideally the desk placement allows for a view of the city and a view of the TV; not a view of the bathroom and the toilet... The bathroom is frosted glass floor to ceiling. The shower is in the same area as the bath. The bathroom would be reason enough not to stay at the hotel. The room lights are complicated and a number of the lights don't work. Not complaining as the hotel is a very nice hotel; but the original design wasn't a good design and remediating issues is impossible without a complete renovation. As an example, the lights above the bed don't function as the light bulbs were removed to address the glare from the lights. The light at the desk is direct light at eye level and the light is integrated into the desk and cannot be moved or removed. The frosted glass bathroom is huge with little privacy and overwhelms the entire room. The closet is huge but much of the storage is out of reach of the individual of average height. I toured the gym last night and the gym is very comprehensive and clean. The room has two towels, two big towels; and no place to hand the towels to dry. No good reason not to stock the room with an excess of towels and provide racks large enough to hang the towels to dry. The current status is Diamond. I think status resulted in free breakfast or 600 points. I don't have the energy to battle with the masses at breakfast so the free breakfast isn't of much value.

The residence room would have been ideal, but the upsale was $100 US per night. Based on online availability, the hotel would have been better off moving me to a residence room as the premium rooms are in short supply...
