Not a great week for BHD ops.

Bad fog on Wednesday caused complete chaos with Swissport staff unable to give much assistance apart from asking people to call BA, or their travel agent if not booked through BA (which as tickets were under airport control I thought was wrong). Lounge full with no further entrance permitted. There was a complete scramble for rebooking as flight cancellations on MMB didn’t quite reflect what was happening on the ground (pax tracking diversions to BFS and LCY on FR24 while screens and app out of sync). I managed to persuade checkin to try to help me as I was in CE and wanted to see if there was sooner availability in ET. They put me on standby on the red-eye departure but immediately afterwards it was cancelled (and the staffer had their ability to change bookings locked!) and I could no longer self-serve in the app. A phone call to Silver line got a rebook to 2000 next day though I bailed and got one of the last EasyJet seats (like a lot of others) out of BFS.

Lots of passengers complaining why flights diverted to BFS couldn’t take departing pax (would have been arranged in days gone by) or ferried in in the morning. Quite a few long haul pax asked for alternative westward departures from DUB next day (at BA’s expense). At least EI admitted fairly early in they wouldn’t be flying that day and cancelled everything early on, BA kept hanging on even though everyone knew it wasn’t happening. I feel for the passengers who flew LCY- BHD only to turn back over Liverpool.
