No, it's different to the ESTA situation (not that an ESTA is a visa) since ESTA need a pre-departure OK from the DHS, visas are just a visual check of the passport. So the ticket and passport need to align (not quite the same as match) and passport needs the relevant visa inside it. Incidentally BA can also work with FNU and sole name; and despite the FNU advice, the USA is also OK with repeating the sole name, which is not an unusual scenario.
Thanks, I hadn’t thought about the ESTA as I guess there is some part of validation between that and the passenger manifest? Would I apply for the ESTA using the repeat name so that it matched the ticket?
If BA are OK with FNU it might just be easier to change everything to that. Malaysian allow both FNU and LNU but that didn’t book to BAEC either way, but neither were visas involved.
