Single name format woes (BA vs AA)
So my partner only has a single name and no family name, a totally normal state of affairs in Indonesia. Airlines around the world all have different ways of dealing with it but BA’s is to repeat the name in both the first name and surname boxes. This format is used with BAEC.
For US visa purposes the name has to be formatted as FNU as first name and the single name as surname. I want us to visit the US next year and will book via AA on a mix of BA codeshares and AA flights.
Would I be correct in thinking that the flight booking must exactly match the passport AND the visa? BA don’t bat an eyelid about it but I am wondering if AA would not like the passport only showing the name once, but the boarding passes showing it twice.
If this is the case I should not try and link the BAEC account, but just sort out the “missing” miles and Avios after the flights are completed?
Does anyone any experience of claiming from BA for this reason and does it work OK?
