Now that I've put it down on paper and seeing how I'll be going exactly the other direction to get back home maybe I don't want to put myself through two overnights!

Yes exactly, I didn't necessarily want to leave the airport as I just hate the hassle to trudging to a hotel for a few hours and back but like I said it seems like more trouble than it's worth. If I do end up doing this I will try to get into the Greenwich. Worts case I do have Priority Pass and the T4 lounges are an option. I have been able to get into T4 with a T8 boarding pass.
You may want to see if better times open up at decent award levels given the “logistics” involved with this trip, particularly the 2nd overnight. 7 pm to 9 am is sufficient time for staying at the TWA hotel or one of the ones near JFK. Depending on when you get in and if you have bags, perhaps you can grab a one way to your final destination that evening.

T4 PP lounge seems like a lot to deal with early in the morning, especially with T4 security. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if TSA pushes back on entering T4 with a T8 pass in light of the recent Delta situation.
