EWR-LAX flight yesterday. Boarding delayed for catering. Sitting in first row of economy, 7F. Requested the burger. Was informed only the pasta (all carbs and fat) or cheese plate or snack boxes (full of preservatives with very little appealing items these days). I wanted food so declined the offers. A couple of hours later requested the Pringles as was hungry.

How does a plane delayed for catering not load the burgers when it seems to me it is the only edible option?

If they were not going to cater 1/3 of the meal options there should have been a gate announcement and I would have purchased a salad from one of the food places near the boarding gate.

With that said the Asian Vegetarian meal on the LHR-EWR leg was very nice. All the breakfast options for the flight (Polars) were too sugary. I had hoped for the traditional English breakfast (but not an option on the flight so ate that in the lounge) and had my departure meal for arrival - very yummy!
