Returning from FRA to IAD on UA933 tomorrow. Booked in a u fare class while wait listed for Polaris. The upgrade list for Polaris has some 35 names on it. I asked the agent at the Polaris lounge before leaving the U.S., about 25 people of those are waitlisted GS and 1Ks. People earning and burning their Plus Points. For me it’s proof that Plus Points are so useless.

Traveling on one of the busiest travel days of the year is hardly a reason to claim "PPs are worthless". You have almost no chance of an upgrade on TxGiving weekend except on TxGiving itself and possibly the Friday. A ton of people travel, including internationally, for the long weekend.
I burned miles to come back from Europe this weekend. There was zero chance of getting anything at a decent mileage rate on Saturday and Sunday so I flew Friday. And still got an OpUp on AMS-ORD (to PP). Doesn't make me claim "miles are useless".
